Asia Tech Wire (Sep 9) -- Facebook's parent company Meta Platforms Inc. will make its chat products available to third-party apps in Europe.

In response to the European Union's Digital Markets Act, Meta has announced that it will open up interoperability between third-party apps and its WhatsApp/Facebook Messenger chat apps in Europe.

Meta expects to officially bring cross-app messaging next year, and advanced messaging such as voice and video calling by 2027.
