Asian Tech Press -- Lei Jun, CEO and the chairman of Xiaomi Corp (1810:Hong Kong), attended the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party on Thursday.

Xiaomi, as one of the world's largest smartphone makers, is competing with South Korea's Samsung Electronics, America's Apple Inc., and China's Oppo, Vivo, for global smartphone market share.

In late May, the Chinese tech giant announced it was formally removed from the U.S. blacklist, and released from the U.S. securities ban.

Lei said on China's Twitter-like Weibo, "It is my honor to attend the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party, and I feel glad and inspired, but also deeply responsible."

"Born in a great era, it is only through unremitting struggle that we can live up to the trust that comes with the times," Lei continued.

The CEO concluded, "We will always adhere to technological innovation, empower digital capabilities in manufacturing, and build our country into more prosperous and strong!"
