Asian Tech Press (Nov 1) -- The UAE's Ministry of Health and Prevention has approved the use of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 5-11 years, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Sunday.

"The approval of the vaccine represents a critical stage that will strengthen prevention among this age group," the report said, citing sources in the health ministry, "The results of clinical studies indicated that the vaccine is safe and has given a strong immune response to children between the age of 5 and 11 years."

The health authority also announced that it will start giving booster shots to people who have been administered the Pfizer-BioNTech and vaccine and Sputnik V vaccines for people with chronic diseases and who are at risk of complications.
