U.S. regulators said to launch antitrust probes into Microsoft, OpenAI and Nvidia

Asia Tech Wire (June 6) -- U.S. regulators will launch antitrust investigations into the dominance of Microsoft, OpenAI and Nvidia in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, according to the New York Times.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the report said that the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) reached an agreement in the past week.

Under the agreement, the U.S. Department of Justice will lead the investigation into whether Nvidia's behavior violated antitrust laws, while the FTC will play a leading role in reviewing practices by OpenAI and Microsoft.
