Asia Tech Wire (July 25) -- Turkish Airlines has leased passenger planes for the first time through yuan financing.
Turkish Airlines said Wednesday that it financed and leased three Airbus A350 passenger jets through AVIC International Leasing Co.,Ltd. and CCB Financial Leasing Co., Ltd.
The three airliners joined the Turkish Airlines fleet in May and July.
Ahmet Bolat, chairman of the board of directors of Turkish Airlines, said this is the first time that Turkish Airlines has used the renminbi to finance leasing.
Bolat added that the use of the yuan to finance the lease of airliners has never been done outside of China before.
