TSMC's Q2 revenue jumps 20% on chip demand
Jul.9,2021

According to Bloomberg, TSMC reported its second-quarter earnings for 2021, with sales up 20%, driven by demand for chips in the automotive and other industries.

As of June, TSMC's second-quarter sales were NT$372.1 billion ($13.3 billion), in line with the average analyst estimate of NT$371.3 billion. Revenue for the quarter was NT$148.5 billion, up 23 percent from a year earlier.

Earlier this week, companies including Daimler and Jaguar Land Rover cautioned that continued chip shortages would further dampen sales. Jaguar Land Rover even said that deliveries in the second quarter would be 50% lower than initially expected. UMC, one of TSMC's competitors, recently said that the situation of chip demand exceeding supply would continue until 2023.
