In May, the company said it had taken "unprecedented action" to help automakers, including reallocating capacity to other industries. Due to a global chip shortage, the company increased the production of microcontrollers (MCUs), one of the key components of automotive semiconductors, by 60 percent in 2021 from the 2020 level.
