Taiwan's Central News Agency (CNA) reported that Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen said at an event on Monday that TSMC would be asked to propose hydropower plans, and the case is currently in progress.
Lu pointed out that the case, if it goes well, is expected to attract 7,000 to 8,000 people to be employed in Taichung, and the investment amount is about NTD 800 billion to about 1 trillion.
TSMC President and CEO C.C. Wei led a group of senior executives to Taichung City Government on Friday to pay a visit.
Economic Daily News pointed out that according to industry analysis, TSMC will set up a 2-nanometer plant at the the Baoshan site in the Hsinchu Science Park. If there is a shortage of land in Hsinchu, TSMC will expand and build a 2-nanometer capacity in Taichung.
