TSMC reports gas contamination at critical chip plant supplying to Apple
Jul.30,2021

There were rumors that TSMC stopped its 5nm production last night at its Nanke 18 factory. In response, TSMC said that there is no such thing. Only a portion of the gas supplied from the manufacturer is suspected to be contaminated. Other gas supplies have been dispatched promptly, causing no significant impact on the production line, and production is normal.

TSMC 5nm process had entered the second year of mass production. Next month will be a peak production period for Apple, its primary customer. There are rumors about Apple reserving hundreds of millions of pieces of A15 processors for its iPhone 13. TSMC's delivery period will be from August to early next year. (Taiwan Economic Daily News)
