Asian Tech Press (OCT 27) -- According to media reports, chip foundry TSMC has announced the launch of its N4P process technology, the third major enhanced version of TSMC's 5nm family, which offers higher transistor density and is also more energy-efficient.
TSMC claims that the N4P process will improve performance and energy efficiency compared to the previous 5nm nodes. For example, the performance of N4P will be 11% higher than the first generation N5 technology and 6% higher than N4 technology; energy efficiency is 22% higher than the first generation N5 technology, and transistor density is 6% higher than N5.
The first products based on N4P process technology will be in production in the second half of 2022.
