Asian Tech Press (Oct 19) -- TSMC chairman said the global semiconductor supply chain is now facing more serious challenges than before.

Mark Liu, chairman of TSMC, on Wednesday attended the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA) convention in Hsinchu, and responded to how he views the current China-US technology conflict and rising cross-Strait tensions, saying he would not make any more comments, stressing only that "Taiwan should develop the semiconductor industry properly and reassure everyone."

In his speech, Liu said that COVID-19 going on for almost 3 years, together with the US-China trade war, and the rising geopolitical conflicts such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict and cross-Strait tensions, have deepened the impact on the supply chain of the global semiconductor industry, and the challenges it is facing are even more severe than before.

Facing the challenges and opportunities of today's semiconductor industry, Liu hopes that all TSIA members will work together to continue to give Taiwan's semiconductor industry a competitive edge in the ever-changing international environment.
