Asian Tech Press (Dec 06) -- According to media reports, sources in the industry chain revealed last week that chip foundry TSMC's 3nm process has begun pilot production and will be in mass production in the fourth quarter of next year.

It is worth mentioning that executives from chipmaker Intel will visit TSMC in the middle of this month to discuss foundry matters for 3nm process chips.

According to media reports, in the first phase, TSMC's 3nm process monthly production capacity is expected to be limited to 40,000 wafers.

Last September, it was reported that TSMC had prepared four rounds of capacity for the 3nm process, most of which in the first round will be reserved for their major customer Apple, and the last three rounds are expected to be booked by Qualcomm, Intel, Celeris, Nvidia, AMD and other manufacturers.
