Asian Tech Press (Aug 30)-- According to media reports, TSMC has confirmed that the mass production of the 3nm process will be delayed by up to 4 months.
If the mass production is postponed, TSMC's 3nm process might not be able to mass-produce in the second half of next year as scheduled.
TSMC and Samsung Electronics are both pushing the mass production of the 3nm process. In late June, Samsung Electronics was reported to be producing the 3nm process.
However, Samsung Electronics' 3nm process also encountered difficulties. Research institutions expect that Samsung's 3nm process technology using gate-all-around (GAA) transistors is unlikely to be mass production before 2023. Industry sources also revealed that Samsung's 3nm process using gate-all-around transistor (GAA) technology still has challenges in research and development, and critical technical issues have yet to be resolved.
