Asian Tech Press (Dec 02) -- According to media reports, sources in the industry chain have revealed that chip foundry TSMC's 3nm process has begun pilot production and will be in mass production in the fourth quarter of next year.
In recent quarterly earnings analyst calls, TSMC's CEO revealed that TSMC's 3nm process, which will be in risky pilot production in 2021, will be in mass production in the second half of 2022.
TSMC said the 3nm process is a complete process node span after 5nm. 3nm process foundry chips, the theoretical density of transistors compared to the 5nm process will increase by 70%, operating speed will increase by 15%, and energy efficiency will increase by 30%.
