Asia Tech Wire (Sep 3) -- Tesla's Shanghai gigafactory delivered 86,697 units in August, up 17% from a year earlier, according to the latest data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on Tuesday.
Tesla also set a new high for sales in China so far this year with more than 63,000 units, a 37% jump from a year earlier.
Looking specifically at the hot-selling models, sales of Model Y in China exceeded 45,000 units, and Model 3 reached 18,000 units.
In addition, Tesla extended its five-year interest-free finance policy for some models until September 30th.
Under the policy, Chinese consumers can save up to more than 26,000 yuan in interest when buying Model Y and Model 3 cars.
