Asian Tech Press (Mar. 17) -- Tesla Inc. said Thursday that it is trying to secure production at its Shanghai plant during ongoing COVID-19 in the city.
It was previously reported that Tesla's Shanghai plant would suspend production for two days on March 16 and March 17.
In response, Tesla said that it is actively cooperating with government requirements for COVID-19 nucleic acid testing and other epidemic prevention policies, while doing its best to maintain production.
Tesla's Shanghai plant is the U.S. electric vehicle maker's first overseas super factory , which has produced 470,000 units in 2021, or about 50% of the company's global production.
At the end of July last year, Tesla revealed that the company had completed the transition of its Gigafactory Shanghai as a primary vehicle export hub.
