For the protests denouncing Tesla brake failure at the Shanghai Auto Show, Chinese regulators asked Tesla to provide the female owner's driving data to cooperate with the investigation.

Tesla released a statement on China's Twitter-like Weibo Wednesday Apr 21 at 11:52 p.m. Beijing time, saying that it had initiatively contacted the Zhengzhou Municipal Market Supervision Administration and reported the relevant facts. The company said it is willing to cooperate fully, provide the original data of the vehicle for the half hour before the incident, and bear all the costs arising from the identification, and will accept the test results no matter what they are.

At the same time, Tesla implored the Zhengzhou Municipal Market Supervision Administration to designate an authoritative, qualified third-party testing and identification agency to carry out relevant work.

Earlier on April 21, Zhengdong New District Market Supervision Bureau of Zhengzhou City ordered Tesla Motors Sales & Service (Zhengzhou) Co., Ltd. to unconditionally provide the protester surnamed Zhang with the complete driving data for the half hour before the accident.

On Wednesday, China's market regulator, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) responded to the protests at the Shanghai Auto Show, saying that it had instructed the market supervision and management departments in Henan Province and Shanghai to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of consumers in accordance with the law.

Meanwhile, China Consumers Association (CCA) expressed great concern about the incident, and said that respect for consumers is the primary premise of business.
