Asian Tech Press (OCT 26) -- Tesla China said on Oct. 26 that the Tesla Shanghai R&D Innovation Center and the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory Data Center have been completed and will be put into operation shortly.

The Shanghai R&D Innovation Center is Tesla's first overseas R&D center based on vehicle development, including software, hardware, electronics, materials, power and energy engineering teams.

Tesla's official Weibo account said that in the future, Tesla's Shanghai R&D Innovation Center will carry out more innovative development work around vehicles, charging equipment and energy products, and develop into a comprehensive R&D center of the same scale as the U.S. R&D center.

The Tesla Shanghai GigaFactory Data Center stores data on the factory's production and other operations in China. Tesla said that with the support of the "dual centers," Tesla's localization process in China will go further and hopefully will add strong vitality to the rapid development of China's new energy vehicle industry.
