Asia Tech Wire (Oct 30) -- Tencent's social platform WeChat or Weixin is doing canary testing on its AI Q&A feature, according to Chinese media outlet TMTPost.
Tuesday's report, citing people familiar with the matter, said that the AI product is still in the gray test stage, and the scope of the test may be expanded subsequently.
Users who have participated in the canary test can trigger the AI Q&A by entering relevant questions through the WeChat search box, the report said.
TMTPost found that the current AI Q&A references are mainly from Weixin Official Accounts Platform.
The people revealed that the function integrates the use of Tencent's internal technical resources, including its Hunyuan large language model (LLM).
With the accelerated penetration of generative AI in various scenarios, social media platforms have taken the lead in trying to launch AI search functions.
At present, in addition to WeChat, Weibo and Douyin, TikTok's Chinese version, has launched functions related to AI search.
And according to the latest market news, Facebook's parent company Meta Platforms Inc. is also testing a similar feature.
