Tencent Holdings is in talks with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to keep its equity investments in video game developers Riot Games and Epic Games, people familiar with the matter said.
CFIUS has evaluated whether the way Epic Games and Riot Games handle their user data poses a so-called "national security risk" because of the companies' Chinese shareholders. Representatives from Tencent, Epic Games, and CFIUS have all declined to comment.
