Asia Tech Wire (June 20) -- Jeep maker Stellantis said Leapmotor electric cars could be built at any of its plants around the world if economically feasible.
Responding to recent news that the Leapmotor T03 was put into production at Stellantis' Polish plant, Stellantis China said Thursday it confirmed that the first pilot production vehicles of the model have been successfully assembled at Stellantis' plant in Tychy, Poland.
The company said, "If economically feasible, Leapmotor products can be produced at any of Stellantis' plants worldwide."
"Some of its models will be produced in Europe, but it remains to be disclosed exactly which plants will produce Leapmotor vehicles," Stellantis China added.
In October 2023, Stellantis invested €1.5 billion to acquire a roughly 20% stake in Chinese electric car maker Leapmotor.
Last month, Stellantis and Leapmotor announced the formation of a joint venture, Leapmotor International.
