Skoda to produce 250,000 fewer cars this year than scheduled amid chip shortage
Oct.18,2021

Asian Tech Press (OCT 18) -- According to media reports, global chip shortage has affected the car production of Skoda, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group. On Sunday, the Automotive Industry Association (AutoSAP) said that Skoda's car production this year will be 250,000 units less than initially planned due to the global chip shortage, and the auto industry's sales will be reduced by 200 billion kroner ($9.14 billion).

According to industrial sources, most work shifts have been canceled until the end of the year as Skoda still has a large inventory of unfinished cars.

Skoda has said it will significantly limit or shut down production at its Czech plant starting next week, which could last until the end of the year.
