Asia Tech Wire (May 27) -- Japan's Sharp Corp has reached an agreement with Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on cross patent licenses relating to wireless communication technologies.
At the same time, the patent cross-license agreement also ends the litigation that Sharp filed in September 2022 against Xiaomi in China.
Regarding the specifics of the cross-license agreement and the litigation, Sharp had told Nikkei that it was "not in a position to answer as it has a confidentiality agreement with Xiaomi."
Sharp, a Japanese cell phone supplier with more than 6,000 essential patents related to 4G and 5G, has previously signed cross-licensing agreements with Chinese smartphone makers such as OPPO, vivo and Huawei.
