According to people familiar with the matter, Samsung SDI has received an order from Volkswagen to produce the Unified Prismatic Cell, which Volkswagen has previously said will be introduced from 2023 to achieve cost reductions.

It is reported that VW may give the battery specifications and functional plans to Samsung SDI, the latter to design and manufacture. It is not yet determined whether Samsung SDI is the exclusive supplier. (TheElec)
