Asian Tech Press (Mar. 4) -- Samsung has been found to be intentionally limiting Android app performance in order to extend battery life, and the number of affected apps could be as many as tens of thousands.
The South Korean maker pre-installed the Game Optimizing Service system application on its Galaxy series phones, which cannot be removed. Considering the app's name, it seems that its function is to optimize the performance of gaming.
But Samsung has "optimized" the performance of thousands of non-game apps through the system app. The apps whose performance is limited include Instagram, Netflix, TikTok, some Google apps, and some Samsung apps like payment services.
