Qualcomm may shift some flagship SoCs orders to others from Samsung
Dec.6,2021

Asian Tech Press (Dec 6) -- Qualcomm may hand over some of its orders for flagship SoCs to other chipmakers, prompted by Samsung's low 4nm process yields.

The Taiwanese newspaper DigiTimes reported on Friday that South Korean chipmaker Samsung Electronics' low yield rate for its 4nm process technology has sparked dissatisfaction from Qualcomm, and that the U.S. firm may hand over some of their OEM orders for high-end Snapdragon SoCs to other manufacturers.

Although the report did not mention which one or several manufacturers these orders will be placed, only TSMC and Samsung Electronics are currently mass-producing chips with 4nm process technology. If Qualcomm shifts some orders, they will only have TSMC to choose from.
