Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine gets nod for ages 5-11 in Thailand

Asian Tech Press (Dec 20) -- Thailand's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said Monday that it has approved the use of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years.

The statement said FDA secretary-general Dr. Paisarn Dunkum announced Monday that it has approved the COVID-19 vaccine Comirnaty, which was co-developed by Pfizer Inc. and German company BioNTech SE, for use in children ages 5 to 11.

This comes after the U.S. vaccine maker received approval to use Comirnaty in children 12 years of age and older.

And used for the first time in the age group, Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine will be administered in two doses of 10 micrograms, 21 days apart.
