Asia Tech Wire (June 24) -- ChatGPT owner OpenAI has announced that it will stop providing API services to China.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, API developers from various countries and related regions, including mainland China, said on social media platforms that they had received a warning letter from OpenAI.
"Our data shows that your organization has APl traffic from a region that OpenAl does not currently support," the letter read.
It continued, "We will be taking additional measures to block APl traffic from regions that are not on our supported countries and territories list starting on July 9."
"To continue using OpenAl's services, you will need to access the service in a supported region," the company said.
OpenAI's API services are currently open to 161 countries and regions, but the list does not include China.
This also means that OpenAI declared the termination of its API services to China.
