Asian Tech Press (Jan 25) -- Nvidia is quietly preparing to abandon its Arm acquisition because it has made little progress in winning regulatory approval, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
A spokesman for NVIDIA said the merger of NVIDIA and Arm had sparked strong opposition from regulators.
NVIDIA has told its partners that it does not expect the deal to close, people familiar with the matter said. Another source revealed that SoftBank is preparing for an initial public offering of ARM as an alternative to the Nvidia acquisition.
It is worth mentioning that if the Arm acquisition is not completed, Nvidia will pay $1.25 billion to SoftBank Group.
