Chinese entrepreneur died in a car accident driving a NOP pilot enabled NIO ES8. The cause of the traffic accident is currently under investigation.
Lawyer Lin Lihong, who Lin Wenqin's family appointed to represent them in the case, disclosed the latest progress of the case. An NIO technician was summoned by the traffic police yesterday to make a statement about the private access to the vehicle involved in the accident without the consent of the traffic officers.
Suppose the investigation reveals that the vehicle data was altered or destroyed. In that case, NIO will be suspected of a criminal offense, and the company will need to take full responsibility for the accident.
On August 12, Lin Wenqin, a young entrepreneur in the Chinese catering industry, died in a traffic accident at the age of 31 while driving an NIO ES8 with the autopilot function (NOP Pilot status) enabled.
