NIO, Shell to build 100 power swapping stations in China by 2025

Asian Tech Press (Nov 26) -- Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer NIO has announced a strategic partnership agreement with multinational oil and gas company Shell to jointly build and operate charging and power swapping facilities worldwide to enhance the charging experience for electric vehicle users worldwide.

Under the agreement, starting next year, the two companies will roll out co-branded switching stations and fast chargers for electric vehicles across China and Europe. They plan to jointly build 100 swap stations in China by 2025 and operate pilot stations in Europe starting in 2022, with Shell's charging network also open to NIO customers.

Based on this agreement, NIO and Shell will leverage both brands' global strength and offerings to help more drivers switch to electric vehicles and provide differentiated and high-quality services to NIO drivers around the world.

In addition, the two companies will continue to explore additional partnership opportunities in battery asset management, fleet management, membership, home charging services, charging and switching technology development, and building charging facilities in China.
