Asian Tech Press (SEP 13) -- Streaming platform Netflix has focused on series and movies in the past, but in order to attract more users, Netflix will devote more resources to the anime market.
Netflix recently announced the establishment of the "Anime Creators' Lounge" in its Roppongi office in Tokyo, which will be used for pre-conceptual art planning and later for experimentation with new technologies that can be applied to anime production.
Anime Creators' Lounge is divided into three areas: Writer's Garage, Designer's Garage, and Lab. The Writer's Garage is a meeting space for anime creators to discuss their stories, while designers and artists can create their work in the Designer's Garage. The Lab is a space for exploring and experimenting with new technologies in anime, such as VR and motion capture.
Japan is a major player in the global anime market and has huge business opportunities. By establishing the Anime Creators' Lounge in Tokyo, Netflix aims to further invest in and create original in-house anime content to attract more users.
