Asian Tech Press (Apr. 27) -- NetEase's music unit said Wednesday it has filed a lawsuit against Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME) for alleged unfair competition.
NetEase Cloud Music has formally filed a lawsuit against TME, including major music streaming platforms QQ Music, KuWo Music and KuGou, for some of its unfair competition practices, the company said in a statement.
In the statement, NetEase Cloud Music cited a number of unfair competition acts by Tencent Music, including malicious infringement of song copyrights and copying of product design, product features and innovation mechanisms.
The company said that for a long time, TME has been infringing NetEase Cloud Music's copyrights and constituting unfair competition by illegally pirating and stealing unauthorized songs, copying its product innovations, and evading or even confronting authorities' supervision.
NetEase Cloud Music said it urged TME to immediately rectify its products and business and stop all acts of unfair competition, including but not limited to removing infringing works, stopping illegally spinning songs under impersonation, and rectifying relevant infringing functions.
