my country's L2 assisted driving penetration rate exceeds 50%, AI drives new competition in the automotive industry
"At present, the global competition around intelligence has been fully launched. The penetration rate of L2 assisted driving in my country has exceeded 50%, ranking the highest in the world. At the same time, the penetration rate of emerging technologies such as parking assisted driving technology in mid-to-high-end models has also exceeded 20%." At the just-concluded 2025 New Energy Smart Vehicle New Quality Development Forum, Zhang Yongwei, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China Electric Vehicle Hundred People's Association, said that the Chinese automobile industry has achieved overtaking in electrification and terminal first in intelligence, but it still needs to consolidate its advantages. This means that in the Chinese automobile market, for every two new cars sold, at least one is equipped with L2 assisted driving technology. In fact, with the slogan of BYD's "Smart Driving for All" this year, the volume of assisted driving has reached a new climax and has gradually become an important consideration for consumers when buying cars. Zhang Yongwei told reporters that the core of the competitiveness of the automobile industry is migrating from mechanical hardware to intelligence and AI bases, and cross-border integration has become the core driving force for reconstructing the ecology. From now to 2030 is a critical window period for cultivating smart driving culture and popularizing low-level smart driving. Enterprises need to grasp the development goals and rhythm of smart cars and seize the initiative in global competition.
