Asian Tech Press (OCT 22) -- In addition to TSMC, Samsung Electronics and other chip foundries purchasing many extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines for OEM chips, memory chip manufacturers have also purchased or plan to purchase EUV lithography machines. For example, SK Hynix's newly built M16 factory has been equipped with EUV lithography machines.
According to media reports, Micron Technology has also planned to purchase EUV lithography machines.
In an online meeting, Micron Technology's executive vice president revealed that Micron Technology plans to purchase EUV lithography machines and plans to start installing the devices in 2024.
During Micron's fiscal 2021 third-quarter earnings analyst call in July, Micron Technology CEO and President Sanjay Mehrotra revealed that the company will adopt EUV lithography technology.
ASML is currently the only manufacturer in the world that manufactures EUV lithography machines.
