MediaTek's new 5G modem chips will use TSMC's 4nm process

Asian Tech Press (OCT 21) -- According to media reports citing industry sources, MediaTek's next-generation 5G modem will be foundry by TSMC using 4-nm process technology.

MediaTek's new 5G modem will be mass-produced in 2022 to prepare for the strong demand for flagship 5G smartphones.

It is worth noting that it was reported that MediaTek was preparing to launch the 4nm smartphone processor Dimensity 2000, with production starting as soon as the end of this year. The Dimensity 2000 series is expected to be MediaTek's processor for flagship 5G smartphones.

As MediaTek's main chip foundry, TSMC is also pushing ahead with its 4nm process mass production. TSMC CEO C.C. Wei has disclosed that the 4nm process is planned for risky trial production in the third quarter of this year and mass production next year.
