Malaysia approves Sinovac, AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccines as booster shots

Asian Tech Press (Nov 17) -- Malaysia has conditionally approved Sinovac and AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccines as booster shots.

The country's Drug Control Authority (DCA) has agreed to conditionally approve the use of Sinovac and AstraZeneca's vaccines as booster shots to individuals aged 18 years and above, Director General of Health Malaysia Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah tweeted on Wednesday.

Noor Hisham said the two COVID-19 vaccines are suitable for people aged 18 and above who have been fully vaccinated with the same type of vaccine.

In addition, he said the AstraZeneca booster is administered within six months after the second dose received. While the Sinovac booster should be administered within three to six months after getting the second shot.
