Asia Tech Wire (Aug 20) -- Following a company's post cursing that Li Auto founder Li Xiang will die of liver cancer, the Chinese electric car maker has called the police.
A statement related to Li Auto issued by a Beijing-based company that operates the website emstapp.com, which will be referred to as emst, circulated on social media platforms on Monday.
The statement said emst would terminate all relations with Li Auto with immediate effect, and said Li Auto had swindled it into writing an apology letter and used it to vilify it.
Notably, after elaborating on the dispute with Li Auto, the statement said that it would periodically publish Li Auto founder Li Xiang's body data, which was recognized by training based on publicly available data on the Internet.
The statement is dated Aug. 20, 2024, in which emst said Li will die of liver cancer in the near future if he does not intervene.
In response, Li Auto said Tuesday that it had never engaged in any business negotiations or cooperation with emst.
Earlier in July, the EV maker had posted on social media platform Weibo that the publicity that emst and Li Auto would carry out business cooperation in the AI medical field had no basis in fact and was a rumor and a deception to consumers.
Li Auto said this time that it had called the police in response to the online rumors spread by emst.
Public information shows that emst is an artificial intelligence diagnostic service provider founded in October 2022.
According to the instructions of its AI cloud diagnostic testing system, after taking a dozen of personal photos and videos and detailing the past medical history of the individual as well as his or her parents, the user can finally get a test report on whether he or she is suffering from cancer or not.
