LG is shutting down its smartphone business

This June, LG Electronics announced its withdrawal from the smartphone market and shut down its cell phone business.

Without the burden of the cell phone business, LG's overall performance has improved. Its second-quarter revenue and profit hit a new high in 12 years.

According to Korean media reports, LG Electronics' financial results showed that the company's operating profit increased by 65.5% year-on-year to 1.1128 trillion won in the second quarter. Its sales increased 48.4% year-on-year to 17.1101 trillion won, both hitting a 12-year record high compared to the same period.

LG did not reveal the specific performance of each business unit. However, the Korean securities department analyzed that LG Electronics' household appliances division (H&A) contributed the most revenue, with sales of about 6.5 trillion won and an operating profit of about 750-78 billion won.
