Asian Tech Press (SEP 17) -- LG Display expects the market demand for transparent OLED panels to expand significantly in the coming years, and the market size is expected to increase to $8.5 billion by 2031.

LG Display's transparent OLED panels are currently used in commercial signage and advertising, with over 70% of sales revenue coming from these two areas. LG Display is looking to expand these panels into transportation, architecture, and other additional applications.

At the recent Munich International Motor Show, LG Display launched the first transparent OLED panel for train cabins in the European market.

LG Display said that trains and MTRs usually have only a limited space to display information. The largest usable space is the window, and the transparent OLED panel can be perfectly embedded. The panel can provide space to display more information, and passengers can still see the view through the window.

In addition to trains, LG Display also plans to launch transparent OLED screens for travel buses, self-driving cars, and ships.
