Asia Tech Wire (July 2) -- Chinese electric car maker Leapmotor's (9863.HK) senior vice president and chief marketing officer (CMO) Zhang Weili is leaving the company, according to Chinese media outlet 21st Century Business Herald.

This comes just one year and nine months after he joined Leapmotor, according to the report.

At present, the CMO position is temporarily vacant, with Leapmotor's senior vice president and head of vehicle manufacturing, Cao Li, acting in his place, the media outlet learned.

Prior to joining Leapmotor, Zhang worked at Huawei for seven years, serving as chief marketing officer for the Greater China and Latin America regions.

In September 2022, Zhang joined Leapmotor and moved up in January 2023 to become the company's senior vice president and CMO.

Leapmotor delivered 20,116 units in June, surpassing the 20,000-unit mark in monthly sales for the first time, a 52.3% increase year-over-year.
