Kao to develop biofuel cells powered by sweat
May.7,2021

Kao will collaborate with the Tokyo University of Science to begin research on biofuel cells that generate electricity and power from substances contained in human sweat.

It is envisioned to be built into a smartwatch that can measure health statuses such as heart rate and sweat and be used as a power source. The goal is to be used in the health care business.

Kao and Tokyo University of Science have signed a collaborative research agreement and will officially begin research within May. Several employees from Kao's research department will participate in the research project.
