National Business Wire (Dec 29) -- Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com Inc. has won an antitrust lawsuit against rival Alibaba, and will receive 1 billion yuan ($141 million) in damages.
JD.com said in a statement on Friday that the Beijing High People's Court made a preliminary judgement in the case of JD.com v. Zhejiang Tmall Network Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Tmall Technology Co., Ltd. and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.
The court found that Alibaba's abuse of its dominant market position to implement "two-choose-one," an antitrust practice that restricts merchants from signing agreements with other platforms, which caused serious damage to JD.com, and ruled that Alibaba should pay JD.com 1 billion yuan in compensation.
Alibaba responded by saying, "We have learned of this news and we respect the court's judgement."
