Asian Tech Press (Dec 20) -- Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa returned safely to Earth Monday after a 12-day space trip.
Yusaku Maezaw, the 46-year-old founder of online fashion retailer Zozo Inc., completed a 12-day trip to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard the Russian Soyuz MS-20 spacecraft, which landed in Kazakhstan at about 12:13 p.m. JST.
In addition to Maezaw, Russian cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin and Maezawa's assistant, filmmaker Yozo Hirano, also returned to Earth together.
The Soyuz MS-20 spacecraft was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Dec. 8. With this mission, Maezawa became the first Japanese space tourist and the first to travel to the ISS in more than a decade, and in 2023 he plans to fly around the moon in a SpaceX starship.
