Asia Tech Wire (Sep 3) -- Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) will establish a chip research and development facility in the country with Intel, according to Nikkei.
Coming up in three to five years, the new facility will feature extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography equipment.
Device makers and materials companies will pay to use the facility for prototyping and testing.
It will be the first center in Japan where members of the industry will be able to share access to EUV lithography equipment, the report said.
