Intel and Indian telecom operator Reliance Jio agreed to cooperate in developing 5G network technology. Intel said they will cooperate with Reliance Jio in 5G wireless access technology and other areas.

It's not really a surprise that Intel continues to develop technology in 5G. When selling the related business to Apple in 2019, Intel's then CEO Robert Swan said that the agreement with Apple allows them to retain the critical intellectual property and modem technology developed by the team. They can also continue to focus on developing 5G network technology.

In addition, networking chips have been an important business for Intel. Revenues from this business grew by 20 percent last year to $6 billion.
