Asian Tech Press (Oct 18) -- Intel's CEO said in an interview Sunday that he hopes Apple Inc will once again use its chips.
Patrick P. Gelsinger, CEO of the California-based tech giant said during an interview for "Axios on HBO" that aired Sunday evening that he doesn't blame Apple for abandoning Intel and deciding to build its own chips, but hopes to win back the customer.
"Apple decided they could do a better chip themselves than we could,"Gelsinger said.
"And, you know, they did a pretty good job. So what I have to do is create a better chip than they can do themselves. I would hope to win back this piece of their business, as well as many other pieces of business, over time," he added.
At Apple's October event in 2020, Apple unveiled its first self-developed Apple Silicon chip, the Apple M1, designed specifically for the Mac, and it also launched three new Macs with the M1 chip.
The release of the M1 chip ends the history that has seen Apple's Mac computers use Intel processors since 2015.
