Asia Tech Wire (Oct 16) -- Intel and AMD announced the formation of an x86 ecosystem advisory group at Lenovo Tech World on Tuesday.
The group aims to shape the future of x86, simplify software development, ensure interoperability and interface consistency, and provide developers with standard architectural tools, instruction sets, and a clear vision of the future.
Intel CEOPat Gelsinger said that today is perhaps an unprecedented first-ever collaboration between Intel and AMD.
He said that X86 is booming and that the X86 architecture, which has been the foundation of computing for decades, is about to go through a period of customization, scaling, and extensibility, which is exactly the kind of opportunity that AI presents.
Lisa Su, Chairman and CEO of AMD, said that AMD and Intel have joined forces with all the founding members to create the x86 Ecosystem Advisory Group, which will accelerate the development of computing power.
