Asian Tech Press (Apr. 28) -- Leading Chinese Internet company Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (BABA:NYSE) ranked as the third largest cloud service provider worldwide in 2021.
Industry research firm IDC released data showing that the global IaaS cloudservices market grew to $91.35 billion, up 35.64% from last year.
According to IDC, the world's top three cloud vendors are Amazon Web Services (AWS) , Microsoft and Alibaba in order, with China's Alibaba ranking third globally with a 7.4% share.
Google and IBM ranked fourth and fifth, with IBM's share shrinking slightly to 3.1% compared to 2020.
Alibaba officially announced in 2009 the establishment of cloud computing units, Alibaba Cloud or Aliyun, and has stepped into the cloud computing field since then.
At present, Alibaba Cloud has established hundreds of data centers in 25 regions around the world, covering various fields such as healthcare, energy, telecommunication, manufacturing, finance, etc.
