Asian Tech Press (Apr. 19) -- South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Group announced Monday its foray into the metaverse industry through a partnership with NFT brand Meta Kongz.
The company released a short film to introduce its brand NFT universe concept "Metamobility universe" by partnering with Meta Kongz, an NFT brand known for a popular gorilla character.
Hyundai will also issue 30 limited edition NFTs on April 20 to celebrate the release of the short film.
The Korean carmaker said in a statement it's "the first automaker to enter the NFT market with its own NFT community."
"We are extremely excited to introduce 'Metamobility' through our own NFTs and start this journey with 'Meta Kongz'," said Thomas Schemera, Hyundai Motor's global chief marketing officer and head of customer experience division.
Hyundai Motor shared its vision of a "Metamobility" concept at CES 2022 in Las Vegas, with the goal of pioneering a smart device-metaverse connection that will expand the role of mobility to virtual reality (VR).
